Welcome

“It is in the order to really see, to see ever deeper, ever more intensely, hence to be fully aware and alive, that I draw what the Chinese call ‘The Ten Thousand Things’ around me. Drawing is the discipline by which I constantly rediscover the world.

I have learned that what I have not drawn, I have never really seen, and that when I start drawing an ordinary thing, I realize how extraordinary it is”.

(Frederick Franck, ‘The Zen of Seeing’).

14-17 Drawing Exercise

One of the best books on drawing I believe is Betty Edwards 'Drawing on the Right side of the Brain'. It's a book I've used before, a long time ago in combination with 'The Natural Way to Draw' by Kimon Nicolaides. At the time my drawing improved dramatically and I'm hoping to see a similar improvement this time round. These 4 drawings are pre-instruction drawings as directed by the book and took me between 15 and 45 minutes each.

11-13, Alfie Boe

Watched the 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables on DVD recently and was really impressed with Alfie Boe's performance. These sketches are an initial attempt at getting a likeness which I hope to develop into a finished picture.
